We will update this page as specific details on authors and their works are confirmed. These discussions will take place virtually with the hope when appropriate, that we will also have in-person discussions later in the year Join us for this six-part discussion series based on the book, “The Snows of Kilimanjaro and Other Stories”, by Ernest Hemingway featuring guest speakers discussing specific short stories and interrelated topics of today.  Be a part of the discussion, join us for one story or join us for all of them. Hemingway’s St. Louis, How St. Louisans Shaped His Life And Legacy, Andrew Theising

Andrew Theising joins us to discuss his latest book, Hemingway’s St. Louis, about the five Saint Louis families that shaped the life that shaped the stories. Hemingway wasn't from St. Louis, but St. Louis changed his life. Most of his greatest experiences stemmed from the St. Louisans he married and befriended: the expatriate years in Paris, the house in Key West, his first African safari, fishing expeditions in the Gulf Stream, his Cuban estate, and so much more. His life was a raucous, creative, adventurous, and sometimes vicious series of events.

Guest: Dr. Andrew J. Theising, professor of political science at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville

Moderator: Laura K Young, Writer in Residence, Hemingway Foundation
